Authenticity at a glance
Outlook, Apple Mail and most mail apps show a seal on your emails. Your recipient sees that the message comes from you and arrives unchanged.
EMAIL SECURITY
With an S/MIME certificate every email you send carries a verified seal: the recipient sees that it really comes from you and was not altered on the way. Confidential messages can also be encrypted. We apply for the certificate, set it up and renew it every year.

Outlook, Apple Mail and most mail apps show a seal on your emails. Your recipient sees that the message comes from you and arrives unchanged.
Fraudsters send emails under other people's names every day, such as fake invoices with a new account number. A forgery cannot carry your seal – your customers can tell the difference.
If the other side has a certificate too, messages can be encrypted end to end. Only the recipient can read them – not the mail provider and nobody in between.
Law firms, medical practices and tax advisers must protect confidential data appropriately (Art. 32 GDPR). Signing and encryption are a recognised part of that. This is not legal advice.
We clarify which mailboxes and devices to set up – Outlook, Apple Mail, iPhone or Android.
We apply for the certificate with SwissSign, a recognised Swiss certificate authority. You confirm your email address once, and your identity depending on the certificate.
We install the certificate in your mail app and switch signing to automatic. You don't have to click anything afterwards.
A signed test email – and an encrypted one if you like – shows that everything works.
Your private key is backed up, for example in a password manager and on an offline stick. Without it, encrypted emails could not be opened later.
A certificate is valid for one year. We remind you in time, apply for the new one and install it – your seal continues without a gap.
All prices net. Renewal is included in the yearly price; you get a reminder in time and don't have to take care of anything.
If your website sends emails – such as confirmations of contact or authorisation forms – the server can sign them with your certificate as well. Your clients then see the same seal on every automatic message as on your personal emails. If the certificate has expired, messages still go out, just without the seal, and we are warned beforehand.

No. Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird and the mail apps on iPhone and Android check the seal by themselves. Webmail services without S/MIME support, such as Gmail in the browser, show a small attachment “smime.p7s” instead – the email itself stays readable.
Signed emails, always – reading a signature needs no key. Encrypted emails can only be opened with the key they were encrypted for. That's why we back up every old key and also keep it in your mail app.
On your own devices, in the Windows certificate store or the Mac keychain. As a backup we recommend a password manager with file attachments and a copy on an offline stick. We do not keep your key.
Every signed email carries your public certificate, which lets your customer encrypt to you. Most mail apps, however, require the sender to have a certificate of their own as well.
SwissSign is a recognised certificate authority from Switzerland whose certificates are trusted by Microsoft, Apple and Mozilla. So practically every mail app recognises your seal without further settings.
A mailbox is usually set up within one working day. Confirmation with SwissSign can take one to two days depending on the certificate.
